I always try to review and rate vacuum cleaners by way of the value for money they represent. You sometimes find yourself with an ultra-premium device that disappoints, just as some of the lowest-cost dustbusters on the market get the job done brilliantly. Nevertheless, you can’t help but be sceptical when you try out vacuum cleaners from the sub-$30 section.
That’s precisely why I didn’t have particularly high expectations of the Bissell 2033 Featherweight hand vacuum. I know it’s a brand that produces some truly excellent devices, but this dustbuster has seemed almost too cheap. I’ve been putting it through its paces for approximately a fortnight now and well, let’s just say my scepticism was completely unfounded.
If you expect an ultra-powerful and feature-packed vacuum for this kind of money, you can forget about it. By contrast, if you want an exceptionally lightweight hand vacuum to pull out for daily housekeeping, this thing is it. The Featherweight Lightweight Stick Vacuum Cleaner 2033 from Bissell is one of only a few I’ve come across to perform well at this kind of price.
Bissell 2033 Vacuum Cleaner Review – Features
Everything about this compact vacuum cleaner has been designed with simplicity and convenience in mind. Ideal for tackling those everyday cleaning jobs, without having to reach for a heavy and cumbersome upright.
According to the manufacturer, the size and weight of the vacuum are as follows:
- Product Dimensions – 8.3 x 9.5 x 44.2 inches
- Item Weight – 2.6 pounds
- Shipping Weight – 3.8 pounds
They claim to have come up with a seriously lightweight vacuum, and they’re not kidding. With a total weight of just over 2.5lbs, this featherweight device more than lives up to its name. Just a few of the main features that make the Bissell 2033 worth checking out include the following:
You can’t really imagine just how light a 2.5lbs vacuum cleaner is until you hold one. I’ve reviewed a fair few lightweight vacuum cleaners over the years, but I can’t think of anything quite as light and easy to work with as this.
Speaking of which, this isn’t the kind of feature-packed vacuum that’s more of a puzzle than an everyday appliance. It’s remarkably easy to use and is suitable for the vast majority of floor coverings. Not to mention, all other furniture and fixtures around the home.
Along with being incredibly lightweight and low priced, this Bissell beauty boasts a super- versatile three-in-one design. Use it as a slender upright to clean carpets and hard floors, convert it into a hand vacuum to get into the more difficult crevices and use the stair vacuum configuration to tackle staircases in seconds.
Bagless Cleaning Technology
It also features a compact yet convenient dust chamber, which is easy to detach and empty at the touch of a button. Each time you do, you’ll be surprised just how much dirt and debris this thing picks up.
Speaking of which, it’s also significantly more powerful than you’d expect from a vacuum of this size and at this price. You could quite easily get away with this as your only vacuum cleaner and still keep your floors in pristine condition.
Bissell 2033 Review – Pet Hair and Allergies
The manufacturer doesn’t make any specific claims regarding pet-hair and allergies, but this bissell 2033 lightweight vacuum cleaner does nonetheless feature a high-quality filter. I’m no expert, but I can say for certain that a quick clean with this thing is more than sufficient to freshen the air around your entire home.
We’ve pets about the place, and it dealt with problematic pet hair pretty much as you’d expect. No problem with most hair and general dirt on carpets, hard floors and furniture alike, but perhaps not enough power to deal with more embedded pet hair. Still, you can’t expect miracles for this kind of money!
- Surprisingly solid power and performance
- One of the lightest vacuums you’ll ever experience
- Excellent versatility and all-round cleaning
- Three-in-one design to tackle all areas of the home
- Easy to use and comfortable to hold
- Suitable for carpets and hard floors alike
- Great for stairs, furniture, and more awkward corners
- Simply astonishing value for money
- lacks the power to deal with embedded dirt and hair
- Lacks the convenience of a true cordless
Referring back to my original point, I feel it important to consider vacuum cleaners by way of the value for money they represent. In the case of this bissell 2033 featherweight dustbuster, value for money is simply beyond compare. The fact that this ultra-versatile vacuum is currently selling for less than $30 is almost impossible to believe. Of course, if you pick up a device like this and expect it to perform like a $300 vacuum, you’re going to be disappointed.
You need to gauge your expectations realistically and realise just how much vacuum cleaner you’re getting for less than $30. There’s much to be said for the more expensive cleaners on the market, but personally, I’d prefer to spend less on a dustbuster and have more money left over in my purse! Long story short, an excellent all-round vacuum cleaner for a price I’m still having difficulty accepting is the real thing.
